After School Circus / Circus Camp

A group of students gets an intensive training course and puts on a dazzling display at the conclusion of the course. Students experience first hand that the best results are achieved by helping each other and not giving up. Every student engages at their own interest level and the mastery of one new skill after another boosts confidence.

This project is very flexible and will work with any number of children. It can be done in a few hours or spread out over several months. Practicing circus skills is a non-competitive creative activity that doesn’t get boring. There is always more to learn, and the longer you try, the better you get.

Project requirements

After School Projects require 1 adult present for every 10 students for groups up to 50 students. Larger groups require 2 adults for every 10 students.
Group size is limited by your available space (usually about 40 students in an elementary school gym).

We provide 2 or more instructors to run the project and all the show equipment, stage equipment, sound system, costumes and make-up.

After School Circus – Project Outline

Instruction

We set up stations with the circus skills. Every station will have an adult station boss who gives instruction & oversees safety at his/her station. We give a quick demonstration of each skill and then the children are divided in small groups and receive hands-on instruction at each station.

We provide name tags for every child and adult.

The children are encouraged to come up with creative ways of utilizing the props at each station.

Rehearsal

Along the way the participants pick their favorite acts. They focus on those skills and put together acts to perform in the show.

The Show

The children are sure to amaze you with everything they learned and thought up in a very short time. They put on a show complete with costumes, makeup and music. Every adult & child gets a souvenir program of the performance listing all participants and what acts they were in.
